My Wallet Wiz Planners

31 Mar

I really like my Wallet Wiz planners that I bought from Walmart some time around the turn of the century (that sounds so strange)! I don’t believe the company is still in business but I did some research and I saw some similar wallets on eBay, so they’re still around!

The Wallet Wiz is a wallet-planner combination. The planner  and wallet sections each have their own separate zipper. When you use the wallet section, your planner section can remain closed. That is what I like best about the Wallet Wiz planners. When I was using my Filofax Holborn or Malden as my wallet, I had to expose my entire “planner” to get to my money. With the Wallet Wiz , the two parts are separate. The Wallet Wiz planners also comes with a wristlet or shoulder strap which makes it easy to carry.

Here are my three Wallet Wiz planners. The burgundy and red ones are made out of a faux leather-like material. They feel nice and smooth and have a soft squishy feel to them. The denim one  feels just like it looks, like a pair of soft blue jeans. All the planners are alike on the inside, the only difference is that the denim one had an outside gusseted pocket and the red one has an outside slit pocket.

The outside pocket on the denim Wallet Wiz has a Velcro closure and a zipper pocket underneath. The pocket is large enough for a phone, bus money, lip balm, etc.

Inside the gusseted pocket is a key fob! I love this because I’m always searching around for my keys. This pocket can hold tissues, a phone, small hand lotion etc.

This is the inside of my red one, the only Wallet Wiz with the original cover.  Although all the Wallet Wiz are different on the inside, they all have card slots, either vertical or horizontal.

The wallet section of my denim one. All the Wallet Wiz planners have the same wallet section. A long slot in back (for paper money) and six card slots. A middle zipper coin purse and another section with a long slot in the back.

The Wallet Wiz planners are so cute! I wish they were still being made in updated colors! I think they would be the perfect “on the go” planners for busy moms or anyone who wants a wallet-planner combo. The good news is that they’re still available on eBay. Enjoy!!

Filofax Seasonal Organization

25 Mar

I have a lot of Filofax binders. I also have some Franklin Covey and Wallet Wiz binders (I’ll review the Wallet Wiz binders in my next post). A co-worker recently asked me: how do you use all your binders? This is a good question! In reality one probably doesn’t need so many Filofaxes. Well, I view my binders the same way I view my purses and my shoes. I like to rotate my purses and shoes according to season, my moods or to fit a specific need like using a large tote for work.

I have to admit, I sometimes feel guilty having so many binders, but most of us have more than one pair of shoes and more than one purse right? So, I decided to stop feeling guilty and organize my Filofaxes and other binders according to seasons. Almost all of my binders are compact size so it is easy to change contents from one to another. Here are my binders:

My Filofax collection: From left: Compact Cuban, Mini Chameleon, Compact Zipped Holborn,  Mini Capri, Compact Malden and A5 Finsbury in the middle.

My Franklin Covey binders: from left, Unknown ( let me know if you know the name), Lots of Dots and Purple Ava.

My Wallet Wiz planners I bought from Walmart some years ago. These are great on-the-go planners!

These binders  don’t fit into any category, from left is an over the shoulder purse planner like the wallet wiz, Vera Bradley planner and my Dooney and Burke planner purse.

Now here is how I organized my binders by the seasons of the year:

Winter. When I look at this now, I may need to cozy this up.

I decided to use my red Wallet Wiz and my Mini Chameleon during the Christmas holiday because the bright red color reminds me of the season!

Spring! Love that purple Ava!

Summer. The denim Wallet Wiz just seem so causal. The FC Lots of Dots just screams Summer. The over the shoulder purse planner will be great for trips!

Fall. The colors of these binders remind me of Fall.

Well, I certainly have enough binders to keep me going for many years!! What do you think about my seasonal organization? How do use your Filofaxes and other binders? Please share, I would love to know!

Organizing With Shoebags

16 Mar

I am always looking for creative ways to store items. When I was teaching I used clear shoe bags to store my craft supplies. Recently, I decided to use shoe bags again to store house hold items.

I hung this shoe bag on the back of my laundry room door to hold my cleaning supplies. I used to keep them under my sink but I can get to them easier here.

This shoe bag holds winter hats, gloves etc. I also put small umbrellas in the bottom pockets. I labeled the vertical rows so family members will know were to put items back. I added some decoration just to make the bag look cheerful!

Here is a close up of my labels: Hats, gloves, scarves and miscellaneous (I put some Christmas hats, umbrellas and other odds and ends in this row).

This shoe bag is on the outside of my closet door. It stores my toiletry items that I use on a daily basis. Since I’m short, I store items used most frequently in the middle, items used less frequently at the top and bottom. I do this for all the shoe bags.

Of course I also have a shoe bag that stores shoes!! I really like using shoe bags for storage. They are inexpensive, clear and use up vertical space which is sometimes not used.

Other items to store in shoe bags: yarn, craft supplies, (great for punches), office supplies, small matchbox cars, small stuffed animals, barbie items. hair accessories, cooking utensils such as large spoons and or spatulas. The ideas are endless. Have you tried shoe bag storage? What do you store in your shoe bags?

Paisley and Polka Dots Scrapbook Page Kit

6 Mar

I have another paper crafting kit to share, this time it’s a scrapbook page kit from Paisley and Polka Dots. Paisley and Polka Dots is a paper crafting company that sells precut scrapbook page kits, mini album kits and card kits. I just love their kits, all of their items are precut, packaged well and the directions are easy to follow.

The kit comes nicely packaged in a reusable plastic bag. This is a picture of my kit for a July 4th page layout. Yes! I’m finally getting around to completing it.

Inside the kit, there is precut card stock, stickers (more than you’ll need) and  detailed directions with a picture of the completed pages.

Here is my July 4th layout all finished!! I changed a few “things” around, and added my own photo mats. I love the way it turned out!

I have used Paisley and Polka Dots paper crafting kits for a couple of years now, and I continue to enjoy their kits. My favorite kits are their Mini Albums which I’ll share in another post. Julie Johnson, the owner and designer, is a true artist, her kits have so much depth, texture and her eye for detail is amazing! I am not affiliated with Paisley and Polka Dots in any way, I just love their kits. I’m sure you will love these kits too!  Do you use paper crafting kits? If so which ones? What do you like about craft kits?

Carolyn

The Scrap-A-Log Planner

1 Mar

While in the process of organizing my paper crafting supplies, I came across a way to plan, organize and catalog my crafting supplies on paper! I found the Scrap-A-Log Scrapbook Organizer by Artfully Scribed. The company also makes Stamp-A-Log and Stitch-A-Log Organizers. I haven’t started to fill it out yet, but I wanted you to see it.scrap along and crafts, planners 028

The Scrap-A-Log binder is an A5 size 3 ring binder. Sorry that the picture is cut off here. The binder has a clear-view pocket, which I may put my own artwork in.

scrap along and crafts, planners 029

The binder is nice and sturdy and has two pockets, one in the front, the other in the back. The planner also comes with suggestions on how to use it.

scrap along and crafts, planners 031

The planner comes with nice thick dividers. I can’t wait to decorate them! The sections are: Page layout, journaling and quotes, templates and borders, markers, pencils and pens, lettering, papers and materials, scissors, edgers and punches, accessories, websites, crop nites, publications, store info, events and conventions and wish lists. Very comprehensive!!

I love this binder! I will write an updated post when I have it decorated and have used it for a while. My pictures don’t do this planner justice. If you didn’t want to buy the planner, you could make your own craft organizer in a Filofax or another binder. Do any of you use a Filofax as a craft organizer? I would love to know. I’m always trying to think of creative ways to use my Filo faxes. Please share.

Carolyn
